Hit Rags
What are Hit Rags?
Hit Rags are distinctive cloths or flags specifically designed for use in airsoft sports. These cloths are used to indicate that a player has been hit (‘hit’) and is temporarily out of the game. Hit Rags are an essential part of fair and safe airsoft gaming experiences.
Why are Hit Rags Important?
During airsoft events, communication is often visually and aurally limited by ambient noise and protective gear. Hit Rags provide a clear visual indication that a player is disabled, avoiding unnecessary confusion and potential misunderstandings.
How to Wear a Hit Rag Correctly?
Wearing a Hit Rag correctly is simple but crucial:
- On a Hit Rag:
- As soon as you are hit, immediately grab your Hit Rag.
- Hold the Hit Rag high above your head while shouting ‘HIT!’ to indicate that you have been knocked out.
- While moving to the Spawn or Safe Zone:
- Visibly attach the Hit Rag to your equipment, e.g. to your helmet, shoulder or plate carrier.
- Make sure the Hit Rag remains clearly visible while walking to the designated safe zone.
- At the Restart:
- Do not remove the Hit Rag until you have officially restarted in the game.
Why Are Hit Rags Only Suitable for Airsoft?
Hit Rags are specifically designed for airsoft and not intended for other sports. In airsoft, clear visual cues are essential due to the tactical and realistic nature of the sport. In other sports, where contact and shutdown are handled differently, Hit Rags are less relevant.
Important Characteristics of Good Hit Rags:
- Bright Colours: Orange or red for maximum visibility.
- Durable Material: Resistant to harsh environments.
- Easy Attachment: This is usually with the Mollé system to your plate carrier or tactical vest.
With Hit Rags, you ensure a safe and fair airsoft experience. Remember to always carry a Hit Rag with you during your airsoft missions!
